About VelocityHR

Getting to know us

VelocityHR provides senior-level HR support for small to mid-sized businesses on a fractional basis. Founded by Robyn Secor, we offer the expertise of a full-time HR director without the full-time cost, tailored to what your business actually needs.
VelocityHR typically works with businesses that have 5 to 250 employees across industries including manufacturing, agriculture, distribution, logistics, and professional services, especially those without a dedicated HR department.
VelocityHR was founded by Robyn Secor, MSHRM | SHRM-CP | CPSP | sHRBP, with over a decade of HR experience across multiple industries and states. Robyn built VelocityHR to give business owners a real, experienced HR resource they could actually call.
VelocityHR is based in the Tampa Bay area and serves clients remotely across the United States. Most engagements are handled virtually, so location is rarely a barrier.
Unlike generalist consultants or staffing agencies, VelocityHR provides senior-level strategic HR expertise customized to your specific situation, not a package or a template. Every engagement is built around what your business actually needs, and you work directly with Robyn, not a junior team member.
Services

What we do

Services fall into two main categories: Retainer plans, ongoing monthly HR partnership at four tiers (Starter, Essential, Growth, Strategic), each with a set number of hours per month. Project-based, compliance audits, handbook development, workplace investigations, hiring infrastructure, performance management systems, AI in HR advisory, and more. Hourly advisory is also available for one-off questions or situations.
Yes, compliance is a core focus. This includes HR compliance audits, I-9 reviews, policy gap analysis, multi-state employment law guidance, and EEOC/regulatory risk reduction. Most small businesses carry compliance risk they are not aware of.

Yes, multi-state compliance is a specialty. Employment law varies significantly by state, and what works in Florida may not be compliant in California, New York, or elsewhere. VelocityHR keeps you ahead of what each state actually requires.
Yes. VelocityHR offers AI in HR advisory services, reviewing AI-generated job descriptions, performance documentation, and policies for compliance exposure, and helping you use AI responsibly in your HR workflows. Project scope and fees are customized based on what your business needs, a discovery call is the best way to get a clear picture.
Compliance

Risk and regulatory questions

The most common gaps are I-9 documentation errors (fines up to $2,701 per violation), missing or outdated employee handbooks, inconsistent discipline documentation, and failure to follow state-specific employment laws when hiring across state lines. Most small businesses have never had their HR practices reviewed.
The EEOC processed 88,201 charges in FY2025, resulting in $660 million in relief for employees. If a complaint is filed against your business, proper documentation and consistent HR practices are your best defense. VelocityHR helps you build those systems before a problem arises, and can help you respond if one does.
Start with a multi-state compliance review. Each state has different requirements around leave policies, wage and hour law, termination procedures, and required postings. VelocityHR maps out what each state requires for your employee locations and builds compliant policies and handbooks to match.
Cost and Value

Pricing and ROI

VelocityHR offers retainer-based and project-based engagements. Pricing is customized based on your company size, employee count, and the complexity and risk level of what you are navigating, so there is no one-size-fits-all rate. The best way to get an accurate picture is to start with a discovery call. From there, we can scope what you actually need and give you a clear proposal.
Significantly. A full-time HR Director costs well over $150,000 per year when you factor in salary, benefits, taxes, and overhead, before you account for management time and the risk of a bad hire. VelocityHR gives you senior-level HR expertise at a fraction of that cost, without the fixed overhead of a full-time employee.
A single employment lawsuit averages $40,000 or more in settlement costs, not including legal fees. Replacing one employee costs 50% to 200% of their annual salary. An I-9 error can cost $2,701 per violation. HR done right protects your business and consistently pays for itself.
VelocityHR engagements are designed to be flexible. The best way to understand the structure that fits your situation is to start with a discovery call, we can walk you through options and find an arrangement that works for your business.
Working with VelocityHR

How it works

It starts with a discovery call, a 30-minute conversation about where your business stands. From there, VelocityHR conducts an assessment, provides honest recommendations, and outlines what ongoing support would look like. No pressure, no pitch. Most people leave with more clarity regardless of whether we work together.
VelocityHR responds within hours for active clients, not days. You get a direct line to an experienced HR professional who knows your business, not a ticketing system or a junior team member.
Yes. VelocityHR treats all client matters with strict confidentiality. Sensitive employee situations, investigations, and business information are handled with the same discretion you would expect from an in-house HR executive.
VelocityHR can supplement your existing resources, whether you have a part-time HR coordinator, an office manager handling HR tasks, or a leadership team managing it themselves. We fill the gap where senior-level expertise is needed.
You can reach Robyn at robyn@velocityhr.us or call 813-507-0708. You can also schedule a discovery call directly through the website, it's the fastest way to get a clear picture of what your business needs.
